A daycare day at my house in Elkton
Doggie daycare is a working day at my home, Monday to Friday, with drop-off from 7am and pick-up by 6pm. It is $30 a day, and the price already covers walking and outside time, so there is no add-on for a stroll or a turn on the lawn. Your dog spends the day in a house with a couch, a water bowl and someone who knows their name, instead of a row of runs in a commercial building.
Other dogs are part of the day. Sean Serfass, whose bernerdoodle comes to me, says his dog gets daily walks and “the joy of socializing with other dogs.” That is the point of a day spent in a home: company, a walk, time in the open air, and a dog who gets back to you with nothing left to spare. My own dogs live here too, so a new arrival walks into a household that already has its rhythm. The logo says it plainly: a tired pet is a good pet.
A full week is kind to the budget, too. If your dog comes every day for five days, the fifth day is free, so Monday to Friday costs $120 instead of $150. Hours are 7am to 6pm, and if those hours do not fit your job, tell me. I will be willing to work something out.

Why a long day alone is hard on a young dog
A dog who spends a working day alone in a quiet house has a lot of hours and nothing to spend them on. Young dogs chew the couch, sit at the window and bark at every truck, and some pace the same loop of floor until you walk in. None of that is bad character. It is energy with nowhere to go, and it builds when the day is long and the house is empty.
Daycare gives that energy somewhere to go. Walking, time outside and other dogs fill the hours that would otherwise sit empty, and the dog who comes home is tired in the good way, ready to eat and sleep instead of redecorating. Liz Malin, who had me walk her shepherd mix, described the range of dogs I see as “good with high energy puppies, senior dogs, and large dogs.” A senior dog can take a slower day, and a puppy can spend the morning running it off.
If you are not sure daycare is the right fit for your dog, call me at 443-406-6694 and tell me about them: how old they are, how much energy they have, how they do around other dogs. I would rather talk it through first than guess. Then we set up a Meet and Greet, which is where I find out whether my house suits your dog and you find out whether it suits you.
Before the first day: meet and greet, shots and records
Every daycare dog starts with a Meet and Greet. It is required, and I would ask for it anyway. Your dog sees my home and my own dogs while you are standing right there, and you can tell me how they eat, how they walk, and anything particular about them. Call 443-406-6694 and we will find a time that works around your week.
I need all dogs up to date with shots, tags, Heart guard, and flea and tick prevention, and they must be spayed or neutered. The required vaccines are DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies and Lepto, and I need updated shot records from your vet before the first stay. Dogs that are not up to date will be declined daycare and boarding. It protects every dog in my house, yours included.
A few house rules so nothing surprises you. I take Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover. Late payments carry a $20 charge per day, and there are no refunds. Daycare is closed Saturday and Sunday except for boarding, and I am closed on the holidays listed on the pricing page.
